Marton Csokas will play the villain in the film remake of the 1980s CBS television crime drama The Equalizer. Denzel Washington stars as the titular character, Robert McCall, who was played in the television series by Edward Woodward.
Not much is (yet) known about the storyline, but we do know that McCall, a retired intelligence officer, is quietly working at a Home Depot when finds himself drawn into the life of a crusading vigilante after helping out a young prostitute (played by Chloë Moretz). His actions draw the attention of the Russian mafia, and in particular a brutal fixer played by Csokas.
Production is expected to begin this summer in Boston. The Equalizer will be directed by Antoine Fuqua from an original screenplay by Richard Wenk.
