Deadline: New York is reporting that Diane Lane is will star as the detective trying to unravel the mystery behind what happened when two 11-year-old girls snatch a baby -- and after seven years in juvenile prison, they're released and another child disappears -- in the film adaptation of Laura Lippman's 2003 stand-alone thriller Every Secret Thing. Producer Frances McDormand, who originally optioned the book, the screenplay of which is written by Nicole Holofcener, is searching for a director.
