James Hibberd on THR Live Feed is reporting that ABC has given a 13-episode order for The Gates, a crime drama set in a gated suburban community.
The premise is a big city cop becomes chief of police of a planned community only to discover there's much more to the residents than meets the eye.
Filming is expected to begin next year, possibly in a South American location.
The Gates seems somewhat familiar (at least in concept) with another ABC series, Happy Town, which is expected to premiere sometime during the 2009/2010 television season as a mid-season replacement.
