Mysteries on TV: Blood Ties, New This Week on DVD

Mysteries on TV

, your source for the most complete selection of detective, amateur sleuth, private investigator, and suspense television mystery series now available or coming soon to DVD, is profiling a series that has a season DVD being released this week.

Based on the novels by Tanya Huff, starred Christina Cox as private investigator Vicki Nelson who happens upon the scene of a terrifying murder, and she's hired by the victim's girlfriend to prove that her boyfriend was killed by a vampire. As Vicki pursues the investigation further, she crosses paths with someone else investigating the case for his own reasons: Henry Fitzroy (played by Kyle Schmid), the former Duke of Richmond and a 470-year-old vampire. To solve the brutal murder, Vicki finds herself collaborating -- against her better judgment -- with the suave and seductive Fitzroy. The relationship soon progresses beyond a purely professional arrangement, complicating her long-term love affair with ex-partner Detective Mike Celluci (Dylan Neal) ... and pretty well everything else in her life.

The Blood Ties: Season One DVD set of 4 discs contains the 13 episodes that aired during 2007 on Lifetime.

  1. This show was fantastic when it was on TV. It gave an entirely different new spin on the vampire genre (no more of this I hate my life routine like so many other vampires do and have done in the past). This show was funny, camp, and dramatic when it had to be. The four main characters gelled as if they had been acting together for years. This show was on several months before the influx of vampires that we are seeing now and the books written by Tanya Huff on this series were written way before the Charlene Harris Books that inspired True Blood. They also preceeded the Twilight Books.

I believe the lyrics to song I've heard go: He was brutally handsome and she was criminally pretty (or words to that effect)-the leads in this series were just incredibly good looking which does make watching this show not all that hard to watch. But once you get past the fact that they all look great their acting is as great as their looks. They all made you believe they were the characters they were playing, they inhabited the roles.

Buy these DVDS and buy Season 2 as well (which is supposed to come out October 6, 2009). You won't regret it.

  3. I am interested in detective books..but those that have humour, as well as murders to solve..that's for the reader to enjoy working it out as well, sometimes means going back a few pages, but enjoyable.. Has anyone read 'At The Beethorpe'? It's a Luke Baynard book..

  4. I,ve just read that..it's very comical, but also it's side by side with adult romance and murder..quite a mixture, but it works!

  5. This neat little? comedy thriller rolls along quite nicely, with some big surprises..A book not just for men (adult overtures) but for Women who like a mixture..better taken at bed-time with a drop o' brandy! Phillip Hamilton.
